Biomass Energy: A great economic stimulus.

It is clear that biomass energy is playing a signifi cant role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuel and will continue to do so in the future. We are excited to share with you some new and upcoming opportunities for you and your Bandit equipment in the emerging biomass energy market. Take a look at some of the uses for wood fuel taking place worldwide.

DIRECT FIRING OF BOILERS TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY, HEAT & AIR CONDITIONING: In the United States, wood is supplying roughly 4% of the country's energy supply, mostly through the direct firing of boilers to produce heat, cooling and electricity. Bandit chippers and Beast Recyclers are playing a signifi cant role in supplying these plants with ground wood or wood chips.

CONVERSION OF COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS TO WOOD:

Converting coal-fi red power plants to wood is a tremendous opportunity. Not only will the conversion lower energy costs, but will also reduce CO2 emissions.

WOOD PELLETS FOR DIRECT FIRED POWER PLANTS:

In Europe, the reduction of CO2 emissions in coal-fired power plants is often accomplished by burning wood pellets along with coal. Wood pellet plants are being built in many parts of the world to supply these coal-fired power plants. Bandit's Beast Recyclers in South Africa, France, England and British Columbia are supplying significant quantities of wood to these wood pellet operations. In British Columbia, enormous quantities of ground wood from beetle-killed lodge pole pine are being converted to pellets going into coal-fired energy plants in Belgium.

AG WASTE BIOMASS FUEL:

As biomass energy markets expand, significant quantities of agricultural waste will find its way into the biomass energy markets. In Poland, several Bandit Beast Recyclers are reducing bailed straw, hay, rape and other agricultural crops. The ground materials are being burned in direct-fired electrical generating facilities.

URBAN WOOD WASTE:

Significant quantities of wood waste are generated in the removal and maintenance of trees. Much of this wood is recycled into mulch, but signifi cant quantities are going into biomass energy facilities.
