The NHLA Rules Committee recently passed a number of Rules change proposals, many of which are concerned with Pacific Coast Red Alder. The Western Hardwood Association petitioned NHLA four years ago for these changes and appreciates their passage from the committee this year.
The Rules Change Proposals, that will be discussed this Thursday, October 3 at 3pm during the 2013 NHLA Annual Convention, are very important to WHA members.
For more than two decades, the NHLA Rules have been the basic rules that most alder producers have used as a baseline to deviate from in offering proprietary grades. Almost all producers have as many as two dozen proprietary grades that do not resemble the current rules. The proposed changes more closely resemble the grade descriptions most commonly used between buyer and seller.
The WHA respectfully asks and encourages the NHLA membership to vote to approve the Pacific Coast Red Alder Rule changes to the NHLA Rules book.
