Working with Beard Hardwoods, Inc., NHLA successfully shipped hardwood lumber to Vietnam solely with the NHLA Kiln Drying Certificate and without a traditional Phytosanitary Certificate.
Six years ago, NHLA entered into an agreement with USDA APHIS for the issuance of verification certificates of kiln dried hardwood lumber. The purpose behind the agreement was to expedite shipments to countries that accept the certificate in lieu of a Phytosanitary Certificate issued solely by USDA APHIS agents and representatives. Unfortunately, stumbling blocks emerged between various governments and port officials about the NHLA KD Program.
It appears with the success of this recent shipment, those stumbling blocks have been removed.
Beard Hardwoods, Inc. and their employees have worked diligently with NHLA to help make this program a success and the Association would like to express its gratitude for their tireless efforts.
