The National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO) welcomes Jane Alonso as its new Vice President for Government Relations in Washington, DC.
“Jane has distinguished herself as a respected and effective advocate on Capitol Hill and brings to NAFO a high level of energy, expertise and personal credibility that will strengthen our advocacy for private working forests,” said Dave Tenny, NAFO President & CEO.
“Jane is a welcome addition to our team,” Tenny continued. “Her deep understanding of policy coupled with her keen political sense and strong commitment to excellence will help NAFO continue to be an advocacy leader in Washington, building on the success we have achieved over the past seven years."
Jane comes to NAFO from the Monument Policy Group, a government affairs and strategic consulting firm in Washington, DC, where she worked closely with the timber and forest products industries. Prior to her time with Monument, she served as staffer on Capitol Hill for ten years including as Legislative Director for Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), where she managed the Senator’s legislative and policy team. A native of Miami, Florida, Jane also worked for Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) and Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and John Mica (R-FL). She received a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University and Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Jane currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University.
