EACOM Timber Corporation Completes Acquisition of Domtar's Forest Products Business

EACOM Timber Corporation is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of the Forest Products business of Domtar Corporation. The purchase was funded out of the previously announced $145 million private placement. EACOM has acquired seven sawmills and an equity interest in an eighth sawmill, all located in Eastern Canada.

Federal government to pay more than $67-million to sawmill owners

The federal government has been ordered to pay more than $67-million to the owners of a defunct Yukon sawmill after a judge found that a former Liberal minister encouraged construction of the mill, only to have his departmental staff starve it of wood.

The Government of Canada is investing $2.5 million in the construction and operation of the Vancouver Pavilion at Expo 2010.
