Recently, two of FRA’s most important allies in Congress, Rep. Mike Michaud (D-Maine) and Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Wisconsin), joined together to form the Congressional Paper Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Caucus’s purpose is to “highlight the importance and economic significance of the paper industry and to focus on the policy solutions needed to sustain and promote this important sector.” Membership in the Caucus is open to all House Members, and FRA would like to ensure that Members of Congress who represent forest-dependent communities join and participate.
The Caucus can be a great tool to spread the word about the benefits that paper and other forest products manufacturing provide to forested communities, as well as to our country’s economic competitiveness. It can also be a platform to share information about the paper industry’s renewable energy profile, the growing role of recycling, and our sustainability accomplishments.
Please urge your Member of Congress to join the Congressional Paper Caucus by clicking on this linkto send an electronic message. The template will automatically insert your Member’s name and direct the message to his or her office, once you have entered your name and voting address. As always, you can revise the text in the template to suit yourself—or send the text as already entered.
If your Member of Congress has already joined the Congressional Paper Caucus, it is important to send him or her a message of thanks. In that case, the module will detect that when you enter your voting address, and the letter module will display a brief message of thanks (which you can also modify, if you wish), instead of the message urging him or her to join.
